Vishnupriyas letter to Lord Jagganth (Shri Krishna):Real Story

Pandas from  Puri visit all over India  and act as a conduit between Lord Jagganath and those who cannot go to Puri and see Jagganath at the Ratna altar . Panadas used take parasad for them and  bring back  to Jagganath. This practise still persists.

A few hundred years ago , one of the pandas traveled to Rajputana was a Vishnu devotee and the panda decided to spend the rainy season in the palace. The king had a daughter named Vishnupriya and along with her name she used to worship Vishnu all the time. Since  panda was from a Vishnu temple , Vishnupriya took extra interest in our panda and made sure of serving him properly.

Panda started dreaming of all the things that he would buy in his village because he had full faith that Vishnupriya would give him a  good amount as parsad for Jagganath which would be given to him while returning. The day finally arrived and panda satarted to journey back to Puri. Vishnupriya made sure that the panda was carrying enough food . He also gave him 10 gold coin as mark of respect. He was more intrested  in what Vishnupriya would send for Jagganath.

To their surprise , Vishnupriya had a letter to  Jagganath on a Bhuj letter . [In Orissa and South India , palm leaves were used for writing while in North India, palm leaves were used for the same purpose]

Surely panda got angry when Vishupriya asked him to give the letter to Jagganath . With no gold coins , no jwelery , and no expensive clothes panda in his mind saw his dream shatter. He didn't want to make any scene as it would get him into trouble with Raja . As soon as he reached the village , he decided to  throw the letter in  garbage behind his house . True to his determination  , he threw Vishnupriya letter as soon as he reached village.

Panda had a nice dinner and went to bed feeling mad at Vishnupriya . At midnight he saw Jagganath expressed his deep displeasure  because his devotee had sent a gift to him , and Panda threw it away. Jaggnath asked Panda to take the letter from the garbage heap , take it along with 10 gold coins to village jweller and make the letter of gold. Moreover Jagganath said him to deliever that golden letter to him as soon as possible because he wanted to recieve the letter sent by his true devotee .

Panda was scared and still true to his identity , he asked why Jagganath was so worried about just one letter when thousands of devotees come to him every day and a letter should not matter

God asked Panda look up and Panda saw that Vishnupriya letter was written in Golden letters in the dark sky.

[ The abode of gems is your home and Mata Lakhsmi is your wife. Please tell me what i have that you dont have that i should offer to you . Only my mind is what i am offering to you and please accept it .

In my understanding of the minimalist perspective the temple is your heart, the worship is in your feeling s , and the offering is in your surrender . This is where LORD JAGGANTH resides]

TAND THAT LETTER STILL  RESIDES IN JAGGANATH   PURI  WITH LORD KRISHNA AS JAGGANATH

Thank You...........
